24 teams representing 17 schools took part in the 2007 Mid-Atlantic Season Opener, intended to help prepare teams for the It's Academic televised competition. Teams played in six swiss paired rounds with the top 8 teams overall advancing to the playoffs. The draw worked out so that every team with a 4-2 record or better in the preliminary rounds advanced to the playoffs.
